Our most recent project took place in Edmondson Park- located in Sydney’s South West, right by Prestons, Bardia and Denham Court- where the client approached Home Entertainment Solutions at the construction stage of their new house with the goal of creating a truly immersive cinema experience at home. While the full home theatre installation featured everything from a 4K projector to KEF surround sound, the focus was on delivering the perfect home theatre lighting design. The client wanted lighting that not only enhanced the aesthetics of the room but also provided a mood-setting atmosphere to match the experience of a commercial cinema.

To bring this cinematic vision to life, we installed an RGB starry-night ceiling paired with LED RGB strip lighting throughout the theatre. These lighting elements were carefully selected to achieve a customisable, ambient environment that elevates the viewing experience. The starry-night ceiling, with its twinkling fibre-optic design, creates a magical, immersive effect that transports viewers into a world of cinema. Meanwhile, the LED RGB strip lighting allowed us to introduce colour-changing effects and subtle glows along the raised timber platform and room edges, giving the space depth, warmth, and a premium finish.

To complement the lighting, the room was fitted with soft ambient wall lights, ensuring subtle illumination without interfering with the projection screen. Combined with plush black cinema-grade carpeting, elegant acoustic curtains, and timber acoustic panelling, the lighting helped bring together a cohesive, stylish environment.

The client’s brief was clear: they wanted a dedicated entertainment space that could rival a commercial cinema in both comfort and atmosphere. Achieving this meant pairing premium audio-visual components with specialised home theatre lighting that could set the mood instantly.

Alongside the lighting features, we installed a BenQ W2720i 4K projector paired with a 130” ScreenPro fixed acoustic projector screen for razor-sharp visuals. For sound, a KEF in-wall and in-ceiling speaker system with a powerful 12″ KEF Proficient subwoofer delivered breathtaking surround sound. To complete the immersive feel, tactile bass shakers were fitted into a luxurious 4-seat electronic recliner row, allowing the audience to feel every explosion and low-frequency beat.

The RGB starry-night ceiling was chosen specifically for its ability to provide that cinematic “wow factor,” instantly transforming the room into a dedicated theatre space. The LED RGB strip lighting was used to give the client control over ambience, whether they wanted a cool blue glow for sci-fi nights, a warm red tone for action films, or subtle white lighting for everyday use. By tailoring the lighting design to the client’s needs, we delivered a truly immersive theatre room that felt both luxurious and functional.
