Our most recent home theatre project in St Helens Park, located in Sydney’s south west, right by Campbelltown, Rosemeadow and Ruse, was all about creating the perfect cinematic atmosphere through carefully planned ambient home theatre lighting. The client wanted a fully immersive theatre experience with the flexibility to adjust lighting depending on what was being streamed — whether it was a blockbuster movie, a family film night, or a gaming session. To achieve this, our team at Home Entertainment Solutions designed and installed a complete lighting system that enhanced the room’s mood and visual appeal while complementing the other elements of the home theatre fit-out.

For this project, our focus was on creating a sense of depth, warmth, and visual drama — the essence of great home theatre lighting. We achieved this through a combination of a custom starlight ceiling and customisable LED strip lighting throughout the space. The starry night effect brought a cinematic charm to the room, giving the illusion of a night sky, while the LED strips were strategically installed along the ceiling bulkhead and raised timber platform to create subtle, layered illumination.

This setup not only provided an elegant ambient glow but also allowed the client to adjust brightness and colour temperature to suit different viewing experiences. Additional design features — including nightsky black wall paint, acoustic panels, and luxurious carpeting — helped absorb sound and light reflections, ensuring the perfect balance between function and aesthetics. The installation also included electrical works, relocation of AV equipment, and HDMI and speaker cabling, seamlessly integrated for a polished final result.

The client’s vision was clear — a dedicated home theatre space with ambient lighting that could be customised for different moods. They wanted a setup that felt luxurious and cinematic but was also simple to use day to day. To meet these needs, we selected customisable LED strip lighting that can be controlled via remote or smart home integration, allowing easy adjustments of brightness and colour.
