The Foundation of Immersion: Strategic Sound Proofing
A major part of delivering a luxury experience involves implementing high-quality home theatre sound proofing to contain audio and enhance the overall cinematic effect. In our Edmondson Park project, the client’s primary goal was a dedicated space that could be enjoyed at full volume without disturbing the rest of the household, particularly with nearby bedrooms in mind. To meet these requirements for optimal sound isolation and audio clarity, we chose an acoustic fabric wall system as the primary sound proofing solution.
This system acts as a barrier to sound transmission while simultaneously improving internal acoustics by absorbing reflections and reducing echo. Beyond the technical benefits of sound proofing, the fabric wall system allows our team to hide cabling and acoustic treatments behind it, creating a clean, streamlined finish that looks as good as it sounds. While other methods like mass-loaded vinyl or double-layered drywall are options for a home theatre, the fabric wall system was the perfect fit for this client’s need for both isolation and high-end aesthetic style.
Scaling the Experience: From 140” to 160” Screens
In Schofields, we demonstrated how a home theatre can be a masterpiece of both technology and aesthetics through a few strategic changes. This installation featured an Epson 4K projector paired with an expansive 140” acoustic projector screen. This high-end screen is specifically crafted for optimal sound transmission, allowing speakers positioned behind it to blend seamlessly with the visuals for an undisturbed audio experience. The result is a space where viewers are completely immersed in the visuals, bringing the magic of the big screen right into the comfort of home.
We took this a step further in Colebee, where we worked directly from the construction phase to support a massive 160” Paramount FX acoustic screen. This screen was chosen as the focal point of the room, complementing the Epson TW9400 4K projector to deliver lifelike clarity and exceptional color accuracy. Engaging our team during the build allows for vital structural preparations, such as ensuring walls and ceilings can support heavy in-wall speakers and lighting fixtures. This foresight results in a turnkey home theatre that hides all cables and prevents visual clutter, rivaling the quality and ambiance of a commercial cinema.
Advanced Audio and Tactile Immersion
To create an enveloping sound experience, we utilize precision-engineered components across all our builds. In Colebee, we integrated a powerful combination of speakers, including three KEF Ci3160RL THX in-wall speakers for rich front-channel audio. These were paired with Ascendo wall-mounted side speakers and KEF Ci200RR THX ceiling speakers to create an enveloping surround sound effect. To add the necessary depth and power for intense sound effects, we integrated two Proficient 15” subwoofers.
For a truly “felt” experience, we often embed 300W bass shakers into the seating platforms, allowing viewers to feel vibrations in sync with explosive action scenes or resonant music scores. In Schofields, the sound proofing efforts were complemented by red velvet blockout and acoustic curtains. These rich, textured curtains prevent external light from interfering with the visuals while enhancing the room’s acoustics by minimizing echo. High-quality 12-gauge Terium speaker cabling and custom-made subwoofer cables were meticulously installed in these projects to ensure each component performs at its peak with interference-free connections.
Atmosphere and Aesthetics
The “Night Sky” black or Dulux Black Skynight paint selections used in these projects are strategic choices designed to minimize light reflections and maximize screen contrast. We further enhance this atmosphere with Star Light Ceilings and perimeter LED strip lighting, providing adjustable ambiance for any type of viewing experience. These lighting elements are often fully customizable, with app-based controls that allow for easy adjustment of colors and intensity to suit the mood of the movie.
In Schofields, we completed the room’s design with Black Belair twist carpeting, a high-density material that aids the room’s acoustics by preventing sound reflection off the floor. This was paired with modern 4-seater electronic recliners, ensuring that luxury and comfort are never compromised for the audience. To house the essential hardware, a black lowline entertainment unit was chosen to provide practical storage while maintaining a low profile that does not obstruct the screen view.

Every great home theatre begins with a detailed plan and ends with professional calibration. Our qualified team handles all labor and cabling, ensuring every wire is expertly hidden within walls or behind panels to preserve the room’s polished look.
