In our Colebee project, we worked directly with the homeowner’s builder to ensure the walls and ceilings were structured to support heavy in-wall and ceiling speakers, as well as complex lighting fixtures. This foresight results in a turnkey home theatre that hides all cables and prevents visual clutter, rivaling the quality and ambiance of a commercial cinema.
To create an enveloping sound experience, we utilize precision-engineered components across all our builds. In Colebee, we integrated a powerful combination of speakers, including three KEF Ci3160RL THX in-wall speakers for rich front-channel audio. These were paired with Ascendo wall-mounted side speakers and KEF Ci200RR THX ceiling speakers to create an enveloping surround sound effect. To add the necessary depth and power for intense sound effects, we integrated two Proficient 15” subwoofers. For a truly “felt” experience, we even embedded 300W bass shakers into the seating platform, allowing viewers to feel vibrations in sync with explosive action scenes.
Scaling the Visual Experience
In Schofields, we demonstrated how a home theatre can be a masterpiece of both technology and aesthetics through a few strategic changes. This installation featured an Epson 4K projector paired with an expansive 140” acoustic projector screen. This high-end screen is specifically crafted for optimal sound transmission, allowing speakers positioned behind it to blend seamlessly with the visuals for an undisturbed audio experience. The result is a space where viewers are completely immersed in the visuals, bringing the magic of the big screen right into the comfort of home.
We took this a step further in our Kellyville project, which we completed in just five short days. This home cinema installation utilized the Epson TW9400 4K projector, a powerful centerpiece known for its remarkable resolution and lifelike color reproduction. This was matched with another 140” 16:9 ScreenPro acoustic screen to maximize the viewing experience and create an authentic theatre-like atmosphere. Whether it is a massive 160” screen in Colebee or a 140” setup in Kellyville, the focus remains on delivering crisp, vibrant visuals that captivate the audience.
Atmosphere, Aesthetics, and Acoustics
A successful home cinema installation relies heavily on creating the right ambiance through lighting and color. For the Schofields room, we selected “Night Sky” black paint, which transforms the space into an ideal viewing environment by minimizing light reflections and maximizing screen contrast. In Kellyville, we used a dark grey low-sheen paint to achieve a similar effect, ensuring the focus remains entirely on the screen.
To enhance the room’s sound quality, we often install acoustic walnut oak timber slat panels. These panels serve a dual purpose: they improve the room’s aesthetic appeal while absorbing and diffusing sound to reduce echoes and create a controlled acoustic environment. We further enhance this atmosphere with:
- Star Light Ceilings: App-controlled ceilings that provide a “cinematic sparkle” or “twinkling atmosphere” to the room.
- LED Strip Lighting: Integrated via the Tuya App around the room’s periphery or seating platforms to add adjustable mood lighting.
- Acoustic Curtains: Navy-tone or red velvet blockout curtains that absorb sound and block unwanted external light.
- Premium Carpeting: Black Belair twist or grey plush carpeting that adds softness underfoot and helps absorb sound reflections from the floor.
Professional Execution and Training
Every great home theatre begins with a detailed plan and ends with professional calibration. Our qualified team handles all labor and cabling, ensuring every wire is expertly hidden within walls or behind panels to preserve the room’s polished look. We emphasize the importance of high-quality cabling, such as 12-gauge Terium speaker cabling, to ensure consistent performance across all audio channels.
